We have fallen in love with the country and its people, who have a wonderful sense of humour and are very proud.
We also like Icelandic beer (visit the Micro Bar in Reykjavik) and food (Tapas Barinn also in Reykjavik) and can therefore say with some certainty that we will be returning one day. Booked a trip to Iceland with Larus at Nordic Visitor. I originally felt blind doing this as I did not know much about the hotels and sites but I soon did not feel alone.
Larus responded quickly to my every question and inquiry, plus the information Nordic Visitor normally provides made me a knowledgeable traveler. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and our vacation was a huge success. We wanted an Overview of Iceland in 11 days, "The Highlights" you might say. Using NV was the best thing we could have done, from being picked up at the Airport, transfers, Itinerary, to the Car Hire (Inc Mobile phone and GPS), and some of the most unusual and brilliant places to stay.
Our Rep Erla Sonja was fantastic. We met her when dropping the phone off at the end of the trip. Would I recommend using them, A big YES. In fact we hope to go back in 2014, even with some Knowledge of the country now, NV are on speed dial before we do anything.
One note of caution, you may already know, you think you are prepared, the cost of food, allow plenty in your budget. I just want to say thank you for the detailed care and attention you gave to us before and during our trip. The hardest decision we had to make in Iceland was what souvenirs to buy. Communication from Nordic Visitor was fantastic. The trip was fantastic. Jelena was great in fully preparing us for our travels -- especially on such short notice. The taxi driver from the airport was friendly.
And of course our tour guide on Day 2 to visit the glaciers, volcano, and waterfalls was excellent. Incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining. All we needed to do was show up and enjoy the ride.I am so thankful for the excellent customer service Nordic Visitor provides and will definitely book with them in the future. Iceland is expensive for us but it was worth every cent.
Have already recommended Nordic Visitor to a number of fellow travellers and friends. You should be proud of the service you offer. This was only due to time limitations after arriving from our Iceland flight. Many thanks for making our adventure to Greenland a truly memorable and treasured trip.
Our experience was a very positive one. Got your contact from an article in International Travel News written by someone we had met on a trip to Svalbard with several years earlier. We had a fantastic holiday all round and are very likely to return. The information supplied by Nordic Visitor concerning the volcanic activity was very timely and helpful too.
For us the self-guided tour worked perfectly. The snowmobiling on the glacier tour and the super jeep to Askja were outstanding. The guides were wonderful and the experience was other worldly.
The river rafting tour was probably most exciting and fun tour we took and we would highly recommend. Hilmar was an excellent travel consultant. We made a change in our original plan for the start of the trip shortly before the trip and Hilmar handled everything excellently. From start to finish, it was a very easy experience and we got from the trip exactly what we were expecting and more in most cases.
Special thanks to our agent Gudrun who provided us with the package details and answered my questions prior to booking and during our trip.
Ozkan is a mountain guide in Turkey so he is very aware of the preparation needed to enable a smooth trip of the sort we experienced. We both felt the service we received was outstanding. We did not use the GPS that came with the hire car because with the quality of the maps and information provided there was no need. All the places we stayed were very welcoming, very clean and the breakfasts, especially the bread, were often outstanding.
We were also very lucky with the weather but doubtless that is beyond your control.Line bot anti kicker
We would just like to say thank you for your superb organisation, excellent provision of information and selection of places to stay that helped us to have an outstanding holiday. We were very impressed with all the areas of Norway that we saw. Everything was clean, convenient and friendly.
Really enjoyed the historic hotels. Easy to work with Bjarni. He made excellent choices for our hotels. Very impressed with the arrangements made - easy to follow independently.Arduino winbond flash
Pleased with location and standard of hotels. Delighted with the service you provided from the first email correspondence with Irja, right through to being dropped off at the airport at the end of the tour. Everything was so well organized and easy to follow, the arrangements exceeded our expectations. Thank you for a great holiday. I have just completed a two week drive around Iceland.
Armed with a few top tips, you can sit back and enjoy eating out in restaurants, coffee houses and take-away outlets, whether you're just around the corner or halfway across the world. With a bit of preparation before you set off, there's no reason why your holiday shouldn't be hassle-free.
Work out exactly which foods you can and can't eat. Make sure that you have packed some essential gluten-free foods for the first few days of your holiday. Then you don't have to worry about finding a shop straight away. Bread, biscuits and other snacks are great for when you're travelling.
Note: To avoid any risk of contamination, you should only pack bread that does not need to be pre-baked. Before you set off, get in touch with the coeliac association in the country where you're travelling.
If you're flying or going on a cruise, make sure you enquire about gluten-free meal options when booking. Some travel companies are already offering a gluten-free alternative.
Learn from the experiences of others. Before you travel, check out the ratings and comments for local eating establishments, so that you can be relatively confident about your restaurant choices. Always call the restaurant before you set out to make sure that they are serving gluten-free meals that day.
If possible, try and speak to the chef yourself, so that you can explain the situation in person. You can use the card provided to help you explain your requirements and help the chef help you. This is how you order your gluten-free meal in various languagesAre holidays just around the corner and are you going to a far away place.
Then the anticipation must be building. But how do you explain to the cook or the waiter in the hotel or restaurant in Turkish that your meal must be gluten-free. It's a tough one.
But the German Coeliac Society (DGZ) has a good tip for you that they have very kindly shared with us: To get the best from the cook - an explanation of coeliac condition printed out in various languages. It was brilliantly simple and well detailed (each voucher had contact numbers and addresses to your destinations). Put the information into the GPS you are provided with, and off you go. Need to call your accommodation or activity for more info or because you're arriving late.
NV provides a pre-paid cell phone to get in touch. We even used ours to just call taxis when we needed. NV flawlessly took care of the core details for us, the rest was our own adventure to do as we pleased.Intitle index of rock and roll 50
If you want to see Iceland, even on shorter routes, NV knows what they are doing. Highly recommended because I would have wasted hours online trying to figure out each days accommodation, activity, etc on my own (especially in the more remote areas).
Iceland lives in my heart now. Booking through NV allowed me to spend more time enjoying this beautiful country, and its wonderful people, without worrying about all the background booking details.
From the word go Larus at Nordic Visitor helped us plan our holiday perfectly, and enjoy it to the maximum. We wanted a 5-6 day trip taking in some superjeep experiences both from Reykjavik and up in the north around Akureyri as we didn't want large coach groups or anything too touristy. The Superjeep trip to the Eyjafjallajokull Glacier and black sand beaches south of the island was phenomenal, and as the other couple in the jeep had booked to do a glacier hike, the guide asked if we minded combining the two trips which would prolong the day by a couple of hours which we were all thrilled about, and boy was it a great decision.
Despite rain the six of us did the glacier hike which was amazing fun. An arctic char lunch followed by bouncing up and down sand dunes on the black sand beaches was excellent. Up in Akureyri we were booked in to Hotel Kea which was lovely, and this was a good job as we ended up having to stay an extra night due to a snow blizzard which closed Akureyri airport. Our day trip to Myvatn (courtesy of Saga tours) was the highlight of our trip and picked perfectly for us by Nordic Visitor.
Finally, the part of our holiday we had been waiting for: Jarbodin Nature Baths. These geothermal pools were stunning. With a little snow falling, perfect blue sunshine, and snow capped mountains as a view, my friend and I had the most lovely soak in the warm water, almost in splendid isolation. Nothing like the crowds at The Blue Lagoon which we had heard from some people to avoid in favour of Jarbodin. And they we Marci, United States The Golden Triangle of Scandinavia, March 2013 We had a wonderful time I was very impressed with the service and everything went smoothly.
I loved not having to think about how or when we were getting to another country because all of the details were taken care of by Nordic Visitor. Overall I think you guys did an incredible job. We had a wonderful time exploring on our own. We had an absolutely amazing experience.
Iceland is such a BEAUTIFUL country - best experienced on your own in a car at your own pace we think.
Larus was very helpful at every turn. Overall, a tremendous life-altering experience in one of the most magical places I have ever been. A fantastic trip that had exceeded all my expectations. Everything about this trip was so easy and Thor did an amazing job at assisting with all aspects, adding and changing our schedule and providing us with all the information necessary for an amazing trip. Both my girlfriend and I were delighted with every aspect of the trip, from the booking, all the way through to the accommodation, transfers, and activities.
Utterly perfect The overall experience exceeded our expectations and was a truly wonderful experience. The husky sled transfer from the airport was amazing. Every trip we did had helpful, happy and informative staff. I cannot express enough how much we loved every aspect of this trip. We are older adults, and have both traveled extensively.Stop! We adored Iceland, and we both agreed this was the BEST trip we have ever taken. You were absolutely amazing from the beginning till the end. All the hotels were awesome with its great views. Recommendations provided for food and sights to see were great. Providing phone and hotel contacts were great so we could inform them we would be checking in late. We had a lot of questions in planning for the trip and Dagny was there with us throughout the process answering every question in detail patiently.
This couldn't have been a better experience :) We highly recommend using NV services. The little gems along the way were a great touch. We really enjoyed the secret hot springs and homemade ice cream (Efstidalur) that Arnar made notes of on our map.
The map with the highlighted routes and stops was a lifesaver. The planning and prebookings were also a relief so everything was along the way and easy to get through.
Overall, we were impressed with how well planned everything was. All the guesthouses we stayed in were very very comfortable. Much better than we had expected and the owners were all lovely. We always had a good home cooked breakfast and sometimes a dinner was provided at a cost of course. We were so glad we had chosen the "budget" accommodation to experience being in someone's home and meeting others staying there.
Would highly recommend this type of accommodation. Found driving around Iceland quite easy. It is the only way to do it rather than be with a tour bus. The GPS helped a lot as did the general maps. The main map was excellent where our route was plotted out for us. Just loved the whole experience. Each day seemed to be better than the previous such a beautiful country of contrasts.
Put plenty of photos on Facebook and so many of our friends did not realise how amazing and picturesque Iceland is. The day tours were excellent, particularly the ones from Hofn, Isafjordur and Akureyri. We are really grateful to the guides on these tours for making them so interesting and special. This vacation was our honeymoon.
We had just got married in the states a few days prior to the start of our trip.
